Your Source for
Civil War Images

Over 150 years ago, the United States was captivated by two great armies waging war upon one another, fighting across the American countryside and tearing a nation in two. It was the dawn of photography, and the first time in history that a war was documented visually in its gritty reality. Today, that war still captivates us, and we bring those images of the men who fought in that conflict (and their families) to collectors, at prices that are honest and fair.

Hard Images

We offer a wide selection of military hard images, including ambrotypes, tintypes, and daguerreotypes. Ambrotypes are on glass, tintypes were produced from rolled sheets of japanned iron, and daguerreotypes were produced by employing iodine-sensitized silvered plates and mercury vapor.

Collection

CDV Images

Carte de visite (CDV) images are small photographs patented in Paris in 1854. Each photograph is the size of a visiting card and was commonly traded among friends and visitors in the 1860s. We also have stereoviews, which when viewed through a telescopic viewer, create the illusion of 3D. Explore our selection of both military carte views and larger-format albumen prints.

Collection

Civilian Images

In addition to military hard images and CDVs, we have a variety of civilian / non-military images in all formats, including both paper and hard images of women, children, pets, and veterans.

Collection

Artifacts

To complement our high-quality antique image offerings, we also have a wide variety of Civil War artifacts and collectibles ranging from personal items like letters and books to military items like firearms and accouterments.
